Yvonne Parker: Interior Designer

I have always had a passion for interior design and was first taught how to sew by my mother at an early age.  My love of sewing led me into making my own curtains and soft furnishing and at one time I ran my own sportswear manufacturing business.

After graduating with a BSc in Psychology and an Advanced Diploma in Education I became a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst. However I always continued my love of interiors and design and after completing several successful commissions for friends and family I decided to make a career change and gained a Diploma in Professional Interior Design, a Diploma in Professional Curtain and Soft Furniture Making and am completing a BA (Hons) in Interior Design with the National Design Academy and Staffordshire University.

I subsequently designed and built my own house together with my husband and have brought my love of light, colour, style and comfort into our family home.

However, it was the opportunity to give free rein to my creativity afforded by several building developers who needed a designer to stage their ‘Show Homes’ to help them sell – that really established me as an interior designer. Presenting just how beautiful, well-designed homes could be affordable to prospective buyers was the perfect gift to showcase my skills and the range of work I do.

My style in a consultation is relaxed, flexible and friendly. I’d like to dispel the notion that interior designers are only for the rich. I find that many people feel overwhelmed when selecting colours, fittings and furniture to suit the style of a home and make the best use of space...so the help of a good interior designer can be a sound investment.

It’s my job to help my clients achieve the look they want at a price that suits them.

I offer 3 consultation options to suit your requirements and your budget. You can find out more here.
